OL recruit Kalolo Ta'aga settling in to make decision after USC visit
The 6-foot-7 2024 prospect from San Francisco will make his commitment Monday and announce it Dec. 17.
San Francisco-Archbishop Riordan offensive tackle Kalolo Ta'aga is ready to make his commitment decision after visiting USC this weekend. The 6-foot-7, 265-pound converted basketball player was offered by the Trojans just a couple weeks ago and that quickly turned into an official visit this weekend. He just got back home today after spending the last couple days in Los Angeles, and he's now ready to shut down his recruitment and make a decision.
He says his family will discuss the choice tomorrow and he will inform his future staff of the choice. It will remain silent until a Dec. 17 pre-signing day party. The Trojans certainly put themselves in a good spot with the plan they have laid out for him.
"I was looking into the numbers with my parents, and coach Henson has put a lot of players through the league at my position. There's not a lot of tackles who've never played football before, but he's coached a lot of players to make a lot of money to do that. ... I'm thinking of early enrolling, so if I go to USC he has a whole plan set. Meeting with the strength and conditioning coach was a great meeting. He's legit. He's gonna push the kids in the right way to be successful on and off the field. Coach Bennie Wylie, he's the real deal."
Ta'aga is still a raw player so he'll need time to develop, but coaches have been enamored by his potential. He was previously committed to San Jose State and once he backed off that pledge several schools became more involved. He's taken official visits to Utah, Arizona and Cal in addition to USC. Oregon, Florida and Ole Miss are a few other schools that offered and became involved this fall.
