Why and how did Andrew Voorhees start as a True Freshman? Right out of high school and the True Freshman bumps others that have been in the program.

Fresno, CA. (completely different mentality than Hollywood, Ca.) - about as Mid-West mentality as you can get.
Offensive Linemen are a certain breed. The best just have a different attitude than Hollywood, Ca.
I'm not suggesting that Fresno is the place to get O-linemen. I'm suggesting we get certain kind of character/attitude that Fresno breeds.
Here's another way to look at it...I have no idea if there is a correlation....dope smoking culture does not breed O-Lineman...opiod culture does.
Avoid Dope Smoking Culture when recruiting O-Linemen. Opiod Culture seems to breed more fierce and tough minded people. Just a theory. Don't take it too seriously.
California culture will become increasingly a dopers paradise. This is OK for skill players. Not so hot for mean & nasty linemen. Mean & Nasty does not breed well in Hippy Dope Culture. Just a thought.
