Yeah, I know, this has nothing to do with USC seeing that the Trojans were nowhere near the NCAA Tourney this year, but Selection Sunday is still good for healthy debate and discussion.
My first thought: I'm surprised that UCLA got in so easily as an 11-seed. The Bruins had some bad losses this season vs. Alabama, Colorado, Utah (by almost 40), and Cal and Arizona State in the latter part of the Pac-12 slate.
Another thought: I'm surprised that Texas got in so easily. The Longhorns have looked woefully bad at times this season.
Conclusion: The committee took ratings into account in a big way. UCLA and Texas are more of a draw than, say, Colorado State or Richmond -- teams I thought had better resumes and were left out.
I thought that Virginia or Arizona deserved a one-seed over Villanova. 'Nova's best non-conference wins were against VCU, Michigan and Syracuse, all teams which went on to have average or less-than-average seasons.
Anything stand out to you guys?
