I like both of these coaches.
First, Connelly, like it or not, he has basically working with very young players.
They had some good games last year and are very promising, but they got whooped by the Bruins.
This year, except for the Washington game, they did their jobs, nobody dominated them.
The injuries were devastating yet Connelly was able to move players and coach up fourth stringers and get the job done.
Did the OL dominate?
Nope, but that`s not realistic given their age and with the injuries, but, despite that, the fourth quarter of the UCLA game was as good as it gets for these guys.
Next year, the OL, a year older, WILL dominate.
Connelly can make that happen.
Coach Wilson, look at what he got to work with.
Not much, Woods, a couple of transfers, players that have never played well and 5 kids.
Guess what, they didn`t dominate.
Surprise, surprise, surprise!
But over the season, Woods kept getting better, the transfers woke up, those seniors that never played well did, and the kids, oh the young guys, were making plays.
In the end, UCLA got to find out just what kind of job these two coaches did.
Coaches Connelly and Wilson`s players kept getting better through the season.
Both these guys believe in what Helton is preaching, HARD NOSE. BIG BOY football.
That`s USC football.
Oh, BTW, they are both good recruiters, especially Wilson.
