I have read a lot of posts before typing this and there are some valid point to arguments but here is my take and it is concerning.
TALENT is not the issue as some point out to. Yes there are things these guys individually need to do better but that's true for some of the best DL across the country. I have stated this in the off season and unfortunately some things will never change.
The current DL is filled with 4 stars and mostly big bodies. Wilcox at this point, could not adjust or coach his way out of a wet paper bag! This current group were recruited for another scheme in the Kiffin era, Wilcox is not smart enough to realize he is putting a square peg into a round hole. These guys are one gap disruptors and excel in this system, its how they earned their stripes in getting to SC. They are put in 4 point stance and asked to catch blocks and react, similar to putting a thoroughbred horse and asking him to be a donkey. These guys are not comfortable and in turn are less effective.
The lack of a rush has to do with the above, they are not asked to get off the ball and rarely work edges, the biggest part of the rush is the get off, its not their fault!!

Last night, Stanford for 4 quarters attacked the left side of the DL by using an extra tackle and utilizing a numbers game at the point of attack that nobody can stop if you do not adjust, to neutralize those numbers. This also set up the under cross off play action that Stanford exploited it seemed in practically every pass, save a few. They also attacked an undersized DL in Greg Townsend who would have been a solid productive 43 DE, but Wilcox has not recognized this, name me one adjustment made?

They took Simmons and Woods out on 3rd down to replace with Pelon and 94, Pelon is raw and unpolished and 94 young, Simmons is the best inside rusher hands down this year and he is on the sideline on critical 3rd downs, he never gets the chance to get off the ball and make plays.

Wilson is not a very good DL coach, he is a true blue 34 two gap, use your hips to strike, bull rush style coach who does not teach pass rush, a fit for Wilcox but not this talent.

Sadly the above shows either lack of taking advantage of your talent or just only knowing one way. Sark does not know how to hire Defensive coaches, check history how it worked out at UW with Nick
Polk.

FYI- I did play DT in the NFL and am a former NFL scout before entering into private business, just my take
