Some of you are sweating bullets because USC gave up a "gawd-awful" 14 points against Rice (all in the first half) for our first contest of the season under a new DC. You've written off the 'SC defense already, and you must also be really impressed with Stanford's resounding 44-10 win over Colgate.
Well, let me just remind you of who Colgate is. This is a team that last year got obliterated by the likes of Stoney Brook, William & Mary, Brown, and Holy Cross (holy phook!), and they also lost to Cornell by two touchdowns. Let that sink in for a moment! I can only surmise that these guys are in Division I football due to heavy lobbying by the American Dental Association. I mean--I wouldn't pick Colgate to beat the Cavity Creeps much less an average Division I football team much less another in a long line of smart schools that have kicked their minty, tartar-control asses.
On the other hand, USC beat the white off of Rice to the tune of 66-14, but seriously--we all know that Lincoln Riley could have easily hung 80 on those poor bastards.
Quit the hand-wringing already, I say.
