New USC commit Jordan Iosefa earned his USC offer on his own merits and on the basis of what the coaches think that he can bring to the Trojan program. But a secondary benefit to his commitment could be his relationship with four-star Rivals100 quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who has become a major USC target in recent weeks and months.
I touched base with Taovailoa tonight to get his reaction to Iosefa's commitment. There's no packaged deal here and that hasn't been the talk in this situation. But they're on good terms and it can't hurt.
"He trains with me at the gym so we're pretty close," the Honolulu (Haw.) St. Louis quarterback said of Iosefa, the newest USC commit. "Known him for quite a while now, too, so ..."
The "..." could well be a 'too be determined,' as far as the impact. It's likely that Iosefa will be in his ear a little bit but Tagovailoa is a quarterback and their circumstances are often quite unique and not subject to the same kind of peer pressure from teammates so much as depth charts, offensive coordinators and the like.
