Arizona presented a defense that SC doesn't see everyday, and they were stacking in the box, thus causing The Trojans trouble for a quarter and a half. I think that what we saw with the de-emphasis of the run game early was simply the coaches doing the math, seeing that they were stopping our runs, and seeing some openings downfield. We got down 14-0, didn't panic, made the right adjustments (like we always seem to do now), and prevailed in the end by punctuating with a strong run game (again, like we always seem to do).
Yeah, there were some "WTF" calls, but I think that a few of them were a result of Helton trying to show big balls and trying to provide a spark when we were looking dead early on.
Hey, how about the Hail Mary jump ball at the close of the half? I love it! The prior guys would have just knelt. I love the "go for it" attitude; that's the kind of inspiration that I look for on Saturdays.
I can't express adequately the joy that this team has provided to me during the second half of the season with this miraculous turn-around.
Kudos to the defense.
Kudos to the O Line.
Kudos to the running backs.
Kudos to Kessler, who was much maligned (including by me) earlier in the season, and all he does now is keep taking hard hits and still delivering the victories.
Kudos to Macho Man.
Lastly, Kudos to the much-maligned coaching staff.
With a bunch of stresses from work and my everyday personal life, I needed some relief. My Angels sure didn't provide it. Thanks to THE TEAM for saving my fall season!
