These "New" offenses, which are essentially all variants of the option, were created to level the playing field for teams at a personnel and talent disadvantage. USC is one of maybe 3 or 4 teams nationally that can recruit to a level where they almost always have a definitive physical advantage. That being said, strategically, an offense based on a strong running game and play action is the best way to optimize the value of what should be an ongoing personnel advantage for us.
