Always a first step in evaluating the new players, the four major departures from USC were Metu, Melton, McLaughlin and Elijah Stewart. There are varying degrees of success so far after the first 3 games in Las Vegas. At least 2 more games remains in the PSL "playoff system". I'll upgrade after that.

In order of contributions so far….

1. DeAnthony Melton….taken early second round and doing well across the board for Houston Rockets summer team: 3 games- 29 min. per game average- 16.3ppg (#1 on team)- 42% FG- 7 RPG (#2)-3 apg (#2)- 2.7 stpg (#1)- 0.7 blkpg. He's impressing a lot of watchers. Wish the FBI didn’t take his last year away from us.

2. Chimezie Metu….also taken early second round and doing pretty well for San Antonio Spurs summer team: 2 games- 23.5 min. per game average- 12.5 ppg (#5)- 55% FG- 6.5 RPG (#2)-2 apg- 0.5 stpg - 0.5 blkpg.

3. J McLaughlin….signed as free agent for Brooklyn Nets summer team: 3 games- 19.7 min. per game average- 7.3ppg- 38% FG- 1.7 RPG -4.7 apg (#2)- 1.0 stpg- 0.3 blkpg. He's struggling a little with the size of opposing players.

4 Elijah Stewart. FA signing with the Indian summer team. No stats so far.
