They really had no depth. They had only 4 defensive linemen on their 2 deep. Four players playing all game in 3 spots. Then on offense they had one and only one single playmaker in McCaffery who got the ball 30+ times. Man, they really were reeling from those depth issues and just couldn't overcome them. Shaw used them as an excuse after the game.
Oh wait, none of that actually happened. Why? Because instead of pining and praying for a perfect roster - which does not exist on ANY college football team - they just coached up who they had and went about their job. They coached up their players who they continue to develop and churn out every year and then put them in the right position to succeed. Contrast that to Wilcox and his brood who have 10!!! Defensive Linemen for 3 spots none of which have been developed, coached up, nor put in a position to succeed. That is negligent neglect.
