Everyone seems to be counting on our WRs to be one of the team's biggest strengths, and overall I agree. However, I also can't shake the feeling that this might be a position where, in the middle of the season, we're all gonna be talking about how we over projected these guys' talent / level of performance, and how they need more time to learn to play at a high level. I mean...
Our #1 guy is a converted S who, at the end of last season, wanted to start getting in reps on defense cuz he thought that's where his NFL future was, and only committed to WR full time because we really couldn't afford to lose our top 3 receivers from 2014. What if JuJu's strong performance last year was mostly a result of teams focusing on stopping Agholor and being worried about Farmer burning them downfield?
Our presumed #2 guy is coming off injuries and seriously lacks starting experience. He's looked great in practice but we say that about literally every guy who doesn't have a lot of experience and is expected fill a major role in the upcoming year.
We're basically assuming that Adoree will provide highlight reel, gamebreaking plays whenever he's in on offense, which is kind of a big assumption in and of itself, but we're also assuming that he can do that and play CB at the highest level full time.
After that, we're just projecting guys to step up who have either failed to do so in the past (Rogers) or haven't played a down in FBS yet. Also, TE is a huge question mark and we don't know what we have yet in terms of a viable receiving threat there.
At the end of the day, with the offense that we run, Tee's coaching, the players' pedigrees, and knowing that USC tends to be all right at the position, I'm guessing we'll probably figure things out, but wanted to hear what everyone thinks.
