.....as among the toughest players in SC history.
Ronnie Lott: When you have part of a finger amputated just so you do not miss any games, that speaks loud volumes.
Riki Gray (Ellison): Played the 1979 Rose with a broken leg and made tackles all over the field. NOTE: He had more knee surgeries than Prints of Fla has posts, but he still came back and played at a very good level.
Ricky Bell: Once had his shoulder pop out of joint. He screamed at them to get it back in place. He went back in.
Clarence Davis: Once had some teeth knocked out, and had them sewn back in his gums (or similar). He, too, went back in and played.
Cary Harris: Hurt his shoulder, as they had to hide his helmet. When they gave him a special shoulder harness, he never backed off contact.
Alex Spanos: Injured hand prevented him from practicing, but it did not keep him from playing in 2007.
Dennis Smith: Had a broken shoulder, many other injuries, but still played.
Marcus Allen: Played with stitches, and every imaginable injury.
