To me there are couple things I'm hoping happen because in my opinion they will make the difference in the game. What do you guys think we need to do?
1. Play Bump on the outsides. We are still young in the secondary and last year Mora neutralized our athleticism by running screens. instead of going downfield, he simply did glorified handoffs to receivers and had their older WRs outmuscle Adoree and co. By playing Bump the dbs can be close to the line making the screens tougher to throw, while also begging them to test us deep which hopefully we can get to Rosen/win those battles most of the time and create turnovers.
2. Pressure Rosen. bring it from everywhere. The kid is good but throw the whole playbook at him. They beat Utah last week but he got hit often and was off in the second half. This will also slow down Perkins who will be facing more penetration instead of last year blowing by our guys who were playing read and react.
3. Run it down their throats. Jack Vanderdoes Owa and McCarthy are all gone from last years game. Clark is a beast in the middle, but the rest of the front seven is beatable. Bring in some of those formations where Soma and Pinner are on the field at the same time, have our five monsters on the Oline pounding straight ahead and they will break. UCLA hasnt been dominant against the run all year.
