OK, so I don't claim to be the most knowledgeable football fan on here, and I do realize that you need a safe pair of hands to field kicks, but I do believe that executing a successful return requires burst, and we have been putting the absolute wrong guys in these positions.
Upon fielding the ball, I believe that you need to head straight up field as fast as you can. This increases the rate of approach between you and the oncoming defender and therefore reduces their reaction time. I greatly favor initial burst over top-end speed in this role.
Neither Adoree nor Macho Man have any burst to them. Yeah, JuJu will lay a good block and AJ has decent top-end speed and some elusiveness, but neither provides that good initial burst that I would like to see, and Adoree specifically likes to hesitate (trying to be too cute) and run horizontally. I much prefer a guy like Justin Davis to return the kicks and punts. That kind of a guy would give us a more consistently positive return.
