Yep. As much as I love the idea of Student-Athlete...it is a con except in the lower divisions and minor sports. Top tier Basketball & top tier Football are profit-making commercial enterprises. Who's kidding whom? The NCAA is a corrupt organization.
Just a matter of time before we either:
I think the top tier NCAA Football & Basketball programs will eventually have to be exposed for what they are - low/fixed labor cost profit making machines.
As much as it pains me to see the tradition die...this is where we are headed...to be a more just society.
Just a matter of time before we either:
- Re-organize the NCAA to allow for paid athletes - lots of creative ways to make this happen - Athlete-students, recognizing and rewarding their commercial value as athletes first.
- Blow up the NCAA and create another organization that recognizes that we have professional development leagues - Universities can participate in this. NFL & NBA can assist in the financial support.
