Let’s be honest, what is the USC brand now?

Been thinking about this for a while. I’m not sure how to describe the current state of the USC program.

Defense used to be a bedrock. While it’s better this year than the last couple of years , we are still a long way away from having an intimidating defense. The Mich, Minn, and Penn State games are evidence of that. Outside of Kamari Ramsey, this defense is lacking winners.

Offense. I think we let the hype get to us. We had a Heisman Trophy winner at QB and couldn’t win the Pac12. We think our WR core is talented every year but there are drops and misses all over the place. We supposedly have a QB whisperer and offensive genius as HC but we aren’t seeing that show up on the field.

We reveled in the LSU win to start the season. Now, it’s clear LSU just didn’t play up to par and we got lucky with a win.

Then you look around the county and see programs stacking up CA talent while we try to pull players out of the South (BTW… we don’t have a great batting average in that regard).

We feel like a boat without a rudder. I feel like the formula to beat us is to simply let us beat ourselves. Is there anyone on the current team (coach or player) that is going to step up and lead a change to this “brand?”

BTW… the top talent in the country can see this problem as well. Don’t tell me about the USC education or network or past success. We haven’t won anything meaningful in many years. It’s about NIL and wins. Apparently, we aren’t very good at either.
