I know there are some pretty savvy people on here regarding this topic so I am hoping to get some advice and direction because I am pretty green when it comes to this. My wife and I have done pretty good when it comes to saving money, but I have no idea as to what to do with it now that we have built up a little nest egg. I have allowed my fear to invest get in the way of us trying anything at all. I am looking to start off small (about $5,000), so any help or feedback as to how to go about this would be helpful. Also, any books you guys would recommend for someone like myself who is just starting off in trying to invest would be helpful.
Also, I met with someone who does whole life insurance and was trying to sell my wife and I on getting a policy that would accrue money over the years that we could withdraw later over time, not too sure but it sounded pretty good.
