So here me out on this.
Sports is mostly mental. You can tell during interviews who you are dealing with. You can see the pedigree these guys have. Okafor is a Laker. He is confident. He respects the history of the Lakers but is not intimidated. He wants to win but has a chip. Not a cocky attitude...more of a "let me show you what I can do" swagger about him. Guy has always won. Pedigree is crazy.
Towns is weird. Gives me a Dwight Howard vibe. Seems soft. Acts like a kid (yeah he is young and so is Okafor). Just seems a little distant. I don't trust the way Kentucky played this year. The hockey style of rotation creates a weak player. Thats why Oregon guys suck in the pros in football. Play the whole game.
Don't get me wrong... I would take Towns in a second if the Wolves take Okafor but I prefer Okafor for the Lakers. Towns won't work out with the Lakers. That's a red flag. Flip has shown to prefer Okafor however we all know they will take Towns. Regardless, work out with the team. What is he hiding? Worried about getting hurt maybe? Either way its suspect.
Lakers create trends. If we go big we will dominate. Plus, outside of the Laker big men over the years which organizations have great big men? (Houston is all I can think of). We always dominated that. We go big than we will clog up the lane.
Glad to see Golden State win something but lets be honest... the NBA is crap without the Lakers and the Celtics. You don't win half of the championships (both organizations) and not be the biggest impact. Its like the Starks and the Targaryans (yep GOT reference). Without those two families the show is kinda lame.
That being said I am not an expert. Just got a feeling about it. Watch the interviews. What do you all think?
