Took three+ months, but I just watched The Wire from the start to the end, all 60 shows, all five years.
Of course, I watched it when it first aired and re-watched selected shows since then.
Watching it almost every day really brought it all together.
Goes with out saying, I`ve never watched a better series.
The stories, the acting, the casting (BRILLANT), all outstanding!
But The Wire is much more then just a TV Drama.
The writers tell a story about how so many of America`s big cities are failures.
The why`s, parents, drugs, cops , schools, and the real bad guys, the politicians are obvious.
Why these "real victims" keep electing the "Clay Davis`s of this world" is baffling.
To me, it is also very sad.
The people that need the most help, those good people that, in the show, live in the "Western", were screwed in the first show and nothing changed five years later.
The only folks that really tried to help them were destroyed or beaten down.
So now, back in the real world, Baltimore`s murder rate has exploded, multiple shooting, cops are under attack by the AG, arrests down, schools F`d up, employment down, stories burning, and the same people in charge will still be there.
The Western is also where the riots happened this year.
If you have the time, try watching it from start to end, better then ANYTHING on the tube till football.
