The USC athletic coaches are not the only recruiters on campus. In recent years the administration has been bringing top ranked professors to the Dornsife School of Letters, Arts and Sciences and other SC schools. This is a partial list of some of the most prestigious awards announced. Many of these professors have been recruited in the last five years. The spotlight today is on Dornsife faculty honors.
Dr. Scott Fraser has been tapped as a Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors.
Jed Fuhrman is a sustaining Fellow in the Association for the Sciences of Limnology and Oceanography.
The 2015 EMGS Award from the Environmental Mutagenesis and Genomics Society was given to Myron Goodman.
Dr. Gian Annovi received a $15,000 grant from the Warhol Foundation Arts Writer Program.
Irene Chiolo was awarded a Mallinckrodt Foundation Grant. This award supports early stage investigators.
Jacob Soll was named among the Accountancy Power 50.
Lois Banner received a Fulbright Distinguished Chair to teach in Sweden for six months. She is a past President of the American Studies Association and winner of its lifetime achievement award.
The Medieval Academy of America has tapped Dr. Lisa Bitel as a Fellow.
Dr. Yao-Yi Chiang won first place at the Computing Consortium at the International Conference on Advances in Geographic Information Systems.
The American Academy of Microbiology has tapped Dr. Steven Finkel as a Fellow.
Steven Lamy has been named to the Academic Advisory Board of the Warrior Scholar Project.
Two Dornsife professors have received $100,000 awards as Cottrell Scholars. They are Brent Melot and Jahan Dawlaty.
Viet Thanh Nguyen was awarded the 2016 Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Fiction. He also received the 2015 Center for Fiction First Novel Prize.
Nobel Laureate, G.K. Prakash, was honored with the Henri Moissan Prize. This award is only given once every three years.
A Humbolt Research Award was given to Dr. Oleg Prezhdo.
Norbert Schwarz was awarded the Kulpe Prize. This award is given only every three years.
