Everyone is posting that we need a big name coach "because we are SC" and that is so wrong. Our fan base is way too arrogant. Why is Herman a "big name" after one season at Houston? Because he coached with Meyer? Fuente coaches well at Memphis. Big deal.
Brian Kelly was not a "big name". Dabo Sweeney was an interim coach!! The coach at Stanford was not a "big name," nor was Stoops, Tressel or Carroll. Tressel was at Youngstown State right???!!!
If we run an arrogant search for a "big name" we will end up with an unmotivated retread like Jeff Fisher. The only big name that should be considered possibly over Helton is Chip Kelly. I think Helton has earned the job and we risk losing the team and embarrassing our school long term by firing him.
