Let me preface this by saying that while Marcus Allen is my favorite football player Pat Haden has been my hero for over 40 years. It was hard for me to come to terms with the idea that he is a problem, but now that I've climbed that mountain I have a question:
Is Haden really the problem? or is he just the symptom and/or public face of the real problem? or perhaps both?
I don't claim to have any knowledge at all about what's going on at HH or USC, but I've worked in or around academia my entire life and there is one thing I know for sure, academia is all about consensus. I would be shocked, shocked, if one guy has the power to make any big money decision, like hiring a football coach, without having a whole lot of other people on board. Now it may be that Pat Haden being Pat Haden is sufficient to create consensus, but I'm wonder what people more plugged in than I think.
