News from Wednesday's practice...
USC was in full pads for the first time. Practice lasted 2.5 hours.
Steve Sarkisian said the team came out of the workout without any new injuries.
Tre Madden was rested quite a bit after carrying a heavy workload the past two practices. Aca'Cedric Ware and Ronald Jones shared he bulk of the reps. Sark praised the play of both, particularly Ware.
Justin Davis (hamstring), Viane Talamaivao (hamstring), John Plattenburg (hip), Noah Jefferson (elbow) and Quinton Powell did not practice. Sark said Davis is getting closer. Jefferson dressed and rehabbed on the sideline. Walk-on safety Davonte Nunnery was limited by a nagging Achilles' heel.
Jabari Ruffin has been a light participant the past couple days. Sark said his knee is not bothering him and that his limited reps are "totally strategic in handling Jabari coming off the knee injury." He said the plan is similar for Zach Wheeler, though Wheeler has easily taken more reps.
There was no update on the status of Jalen Cope-Fitzpatrick, who was not present the day after summer school concluded. "I don't know anything yet," Sarkisian said.
Sark's full comments on Bryce Dixon are here.
USC is off Thursday and there are plans for the entire team to see "Straight Outta Compton." The Trojans will practice twice Friday. The 8:45 a.m. session is the only one open to the public (and media).
