News updates from Tuesday's practice ...

Blind long snapper Jake Olson made his practice debut today for USC. He participated in individuals but not team drills and wore a non-contact jersey. Olson was cleared by the NCAA on Aug. 19. Like the other walk-ons, he couldn't be added to the team until after the first game. He then had to undergo a physical and get medical clearance.

Kevon Seymour, sporting a sleeve on his knee, did not practice and is questionable for the Stanford game. Steve Sarkisian said he experienced some swelling this past Saturday in the same knee he sprained in training camp.

Biggie Marshall took the majority of the first-team reps opposite Adoree' Jackson, who only practiced on defense.

Isaiah Langley was moved from the scout team to the second team, at least for now. Sarkisian said they're giving him a hard look with Seymour out. Langley has had some strong practices in recent weeks.

Lamar Dawson returned to practice and worked with the second team. When asked if Dawson was expected to play Saturday, Sarkisian said, "We'll see."

Osa Masina continued to take a lot of second-team reps.

Ykili Ross and John Houston remained on the scout team. The depth chart this weeks lists Houston beneath walk-on Grant Moore at strongside linebacker, which means he's on track to redshirt. Ross, however, is listed above walk-ons at free safety, behind Chris Hawkins, Leon McQuay and Marvell Tell.

Another slight change on the depth chart: Claude Pelon and Greg Townsend are listed as co-starters.

Jordan Simmons remains out.

Sark noted that the team GPA has improved each semester since he arrived. He singled out Antwaun Woods and Cody Kessler, both of whom are working on their master's. Woods is the first person in his family to attend college. Kessler has befriended 9-year-old Joey Rodriguez, who is battling a brain tumor.

I bumped into Bryce Dixon this morning. He said he's still enrolled at USC and is holding out hope of returning to the team in 2016. If that doesn't materialize, he plans to transfer.
