News updates from Tuesday's practice ...
Adoree' Jackson (abdominal) participated in individuals, 1-on-1s, special teams and walk-through. He was not involved in the team periods. Jackson appeared to be moving around fine.
Steven Mitchell Jr. (wrist) was a full participant. He uncharacteristically dropped a few passes, presumably because of his sprained wrist.
Justin Davis returned to practice and was given a decent-sized workload. It was his first practice since suffering a rib injury on Aug. 19. Davis looked a bit rusty at times but showed some flashes as well. He probably isn't that far from being full strength. We didn't have the opportunity to speak with him today.
Steve Sarkisian intimated Jackson and Davis will play Saturday.
Claude Pelon, who has been out the past few weeks after undergoing a knee scope, was a full participant. He worked with the second team.
Lamar Dawson was limited.
Ykili Ross was no longer sporting a non-contact jersey but instead a black one -- he was with the scout team.
Osa Masina got the bulk of the first-team reps at weakside linebacker. Anthony Sarao was with the second team.
Quinton Powell practiced, this after being one of the few non-freshmen on scholarship to not play Saturday. It's unclear whether he was not used in the opener because of a prior concussion.
Toa Lobendahn worked exclusively at right guard. He said that is where he will stay for the entire week.
Viane Talamaivao worked at both guard spots with the second team.
JuJu Smith-Schuster, after catching a screen pass and quickly being tackled, ran over to Isaac Whitney and shoved him hard in the face with both hands. Very odd moment. Whitney looked taken aback and hesitated before slightly pushing back before JuJu walked away. JuJu did not speak with reporters after practice. His ire was apparently the result of Whitney missing a blocking assignment.
Interestingly, I asked Tee Martin how he felt about the incident and he said, "Good. ... Leadership -- do your job."
I also spoke with Kevon Seymour, who suggested tension was a bit higher than usual because of a so-so practice. "We're all out there competing and then a lot of emotion going on, we all had a rough day," he said. "It was nothing personal."
