Haden talk about other programs that hied from within.
Haden:
"Dabo Swinney I think was an assistant promoted, Pat Fitzgerald at Northwestern. In our conference, David Shaw and Mark Helfrich. So it isn’t unprecedented and we think we have the right guy for the job.”
Yes but those were not premier programs at the time. Football is not everyting at those schools(except clemson) You cant always get a top guy to come to those programs. At usc, there is no need to to take chance on a guy who does not have a proven track record. And it is not like helton's offense is averaging 50 a game or something. So I can understand if v tech hired bud foster. I can understand if bama hired kirby smart. Why? because these guys have proven to tops at their position. Why hire a a guy that has the most talent in the nation, but who's offense is ranked 29th? Why hire the 29th best offensive coordinator? I would only look at top 5 to 10 oc and dc's. I just don't get it.
Utah has much weaker talent and may end up with a better record. Same for tcu. Same for clemson. Same for Mich st. Those coaches have proven something. Just because helton is a great guy and gets sc, does not mean he is a great coach.
