Coach Steve Sarkisian on Friday morning addressed the university's decision to not reinstate Bryce Dixon as a student-athlete.
Here's his opening statement:
"(Let’s) kick it off with the Bryce Dixon news. Obviously you guys saw what the university put out. We support the university’s decision. As I said yesterday, we want what’s in the best interest of the student-athlete as well. So I don’t have anything further to comment on that."
Sark was then asked if he was disappointed in the outcome.
"It’s not about disappointment," he said. "It’s about supporting the university and their decision. Again, it’s about the best interest and welfare of the student-athlete, what’s best for him. It wouldn’t have been about joy and excitement if he would be here, it’s not about disappointment if he’s not. It is what it is."
Finally, he was asked if he had had a vote, which way would he have voted.
"I don’t have a vote," he said. "I don’t do hypotheticals."
Dixon was informed Friday morning he will be able to keep his scholarship to USC. I also learned today Athletic Director Pat Haden did not have a say in the university's decision to not reinstate Dixon as a student-athlete.
