Started last year with Auburn (generally a doormat) hiring Pearl. Now Miss. St. (another doormat and tough job) has landed Howland, and Alabama is apparently going to go Nick Saban on an elite coach in Gregg Marshall and offer him $4mm and make him say no. There's buzz UGA may be looking to usher Fox along to another job and basically do the same.

Not sure if anyone has been listening to / reading Gary Parish this week, but he said Bama is going all out for Marshall, and will basically offer him unlimited resources, etc., whatever it takes to get it done. Saban is involved too apparently.

Additionally, apparently Slive met with every AD a year ago, and told them that unless they totally had their house in order men's BB coach wise (i.e. Kentucky or Florida), they needed to upgrade due to the money the SECN was generating and the need to fill it with quality product. Hence these hires / coaching chases.

Meanwhile in the P12, the recent hires have all been mixed bags at best with UCLA, SC, and Wazzu. Retreads (Kent), should have done betters (UCLA) and complete dice rolls (USC, Cal). If ASU is seriously looking Pastner or Capel, then that's no big time hire either.
