I have been a CEO of various medium to large companies over the last 25+ years. One thing I have learned over those years is that really smart analytical types usually make very poor leaders. I have been defending PH because of his history at USC prior to being named AD. But, I have to say I have reached the point where I agree, he is not the man for the job. It is not really about last night's debacle. It's about everything the last few years. He over analyzed the Ed O situation. He over analyzed and outsmarted himself with the Sark hire. He completely whiffed on the need for a true LEADER to stand up for his organization when under fire from a corrupt institution. His constituency needed him to stand up for them even if the risks were high, and he did not! He is without doubt a very smart and capable man, but that does not make him a leader. Likewise Sark is not a leader, Kiffin is not a leader. I am not in anyway suggesting we should have given Ed O the job, but he displayed more leadership qualities in 2 months than this lot have displayed in 5-7 years.
PH needs to fire Sark now, the combination of his out of control personal life and his inability to lead a football team lead to no other conclusion. And by the way, those of us who know people around the program and around the conference, likewise know very well, the public display put on by Sark last August was only the tip of the iceberg. This was NOT an isolated incident. These constant embarrassments on and off the field must stop, and only a true leader will make that happen. So Pat, salvage what is left of your opportunity! Do not hesitate, you know it must be done! And when it is done gracefully ride off into the sunset and return as the really smart analyst that you are and were always meant to be!

Forgive any typing and other errors. I am not used to typing myself, I am not a kid, and I suck at typing on an iPad on a plane.
