... a month ago is because he was employed by the Eagles? And if Helton were still interim HC today we would have hired Chip Kelly instead? That makes no sense at all to me. I think the reason "they" hired Helton wasn't that they couldn't get Chip, or another name brand coach, it was because "they" wanted Helton. Same reason "they" hired Sark two years ago. If "they" wanted a name brand coach, "they" could get one but I don't see any evidence that a successful coaching resume is the deciding factor in getting the USC head coaching job. So I just don't see how Chip Kelly getting fired today makes it any more likely that he (or someone like him) would have been hired instead of Helton.
