This is my opinion. Agree or disagree, this is what I think, and how I see the reality of the situation.

The Pac-12 Commissioner's reign has not only been a abject failure on almost all fronts, it is costing the Pac-12 member schools millions of dollars and who knows how much exposure and prestige.

Larry Scott was brought in under much pomp and circumstance, given a fat contract, sent forth to rape the TV channels of multi millions of dollars and prime time exposure. He was also green lighted to put up the Pac-12 Network, which, Scott claimed, would funnel at least $2 million to each school per year.

The end result? A untrained monkey could have fashioned a better TV contract than the Pac-12 now owns. As a for instance, this week SC plays on Friday night 6:00PM. That is 9:00pm in most of the major markets, and of course no one is out on the town at 9:00 on a Friday night. Then we have Ucla playing a rejuvenated WSU team on Saturday. Sounds good? Well, they kick off at 10:45 pm in the major markets. The Pac-12 teams have been playing on Thursday nights and in secret, on the Pac-12 channel.

Which brings us to that particular debacle. First of all, the revenue Scott promised is less than half of what is being realised. Plus, because of Scott's amazing TV acumen, Direct TV, with over 20 million viewers, is not carrying the Pac-12 channel. However, somehow, the SEC and the Big 10 have managed to strike a deal with DTV.

IMO, SC is the biggest loser in the Pac-12, because of Larry Scott. This man is directly responsible for trying to "commonize" the SC Brand. He has admitted he wants it on the same plane as the WSU Brand, or whoever.

And what of the University Presidents? Are they simply TV ignorant, or just don't care. Of course we are talking about a lot of dollars, so how could they not care? Lost dollars and a Channel that is a joke, both in quality and operation can't be hidden in the small print.

As far as I can see, the Pac-12 schools seem to be settling for crumbs and a Commissioner whol's only claim to fame was a better contract for Pro Women's Tennis. But even that sport"s TV situation could have been improved by a untrained monkey.

Unfortunately, it is Pac-12 fans, supporters and donors who being made monkey's of.
