I still see moderate to major issues that simply mask themselves by lopsided scores. And these problems have already shown themselves and hurt us against stanford. And they will hurt is again, if we don't make changes. But I did see some improvement in the asu game and the offense does have a chance to be very good.

Here is the good and the bad. I see lots of good things from the offense on many fronts. Really good OL run and pass blocking on good amount of plays. Kessler and madden are good veteran players that can help us. win. Juju is a superstar and probably the strongest wr in the pac 12. Ron Jones looks like a future star. Adoree gives us a do it all 2 way playmaker that few teams have. But the OL still get confused by sophisticated defenses and we have way too many drive killing offensive penalties. The OL just misses blocks on many occasions and it causes negative plays. So while the offense looks really good, it is sporadic.

On defense, wilcox called a much better game as he let our players play in the first half. He called some timely blitzes, played some man coverage and just did not seem willing to give them yards on every play. I felt he mixed things up nicely. And I actually saw a 6 man rush or 2 that disrupted bercovici. I like what he did on the goal line as well. And because of this we caused the qb to throw early, throw an int and some near ints, and fumble the football. We did get overall better play by some of our players as well. But asu did shoot themselves in the foot. And they did drive the ball on us pretty effectively all night. I think we gave up 450 yards which is too much regardless of whether not it was late in the game.

I thought the db's locked on the wr's pretty well. But their technique still needs work as they grab and hand fight too much. We are also still giving up 5 yards on a lot 1st downs. When we place base d we literally can not stop running plays straight up the middle. It seems like the lb's just take too long to react instead of meeting the rb in the hole. So I am worried about good running teams like nd and ucla. And we can't simply outscore those teams teams if the offense sputters with penalties and missed assignments.
