More to the point, lots of retweets of comments trashing Helton. Surely the university could have had more dialogue with the family, but the situation is not a mystery — federal investigation has to play out, then suspension will be dealt with accordingly. Nothing is going to change before then, so ultimately the question becomes what is the end game with this approach? Again, I feel bad for Munir. We’ll see what happens with his case, but this isn’t advancing his situation to his benefit. A) The only reason people know he’s involved in a federal investigation is because of this very public defense launch, and B) He wasn’t in line to have a role this season and is returning from a torn ACL so there’s nothing lost by not being active this short, 7-game season that doesn’t even count against his eligibility. C) If he gets totally cleared, his suspension will be lifted but he then returns to a program and presumably a head coach his family has been trashing publicly.
