Haden hires Helton, who everyone on the staff knows is a joke. Helton proceeds to let all the coaches go except two he believes can hold the recruits together. He promotes one to a position he's never held. Turns out the two coaches he kept couldn't hold the class together. Because Helton is not respected in the coaching community he can't hire anyone other than his brother and his Dad's friend. Clancy negotiates a sweet deal and comes back knowing when the team implodes he'll have cash in his pocket and outside shot at the HC job since prior experience or a proven track record isn't required to coach at USC.
