So here's my .02 on the new head coach!
1. HE has stood by us for 6 years and has bailed us out of disastrous situations multiple times now
2. He has our last bowl win
3. Kiffin left him in clean-up mode
4. He took over for Sark on multiple different levels. (1st in play calling, then as interim HC), holding this team together when Steve felt the need to pull multiple benders and potentially put the kids at risk.
5. He has been dealt a terrible set of coach's and has this team performing
6. The Past players have loved him
7. The current players love him
8. The recruits love the guy
9. Ends the UCLA Bleeding with a promising victory
10. He has won the Pac 12 South and has a chance at getting to the Rose Bowl
Sure, I was looking at the list of potential big hire to take us to the promise land, Herman, Kelly, Harbaugh, just to name a few, but that didn't happen. Clay wasn't in my top 5, but it has made me look at this entirely differently over the past 24 hours.
At the end of the day, isn't it about how these kids feel and who they enjoy playing for? Isn't it about winning the South and potentially having a shot at the PAC 12 championship? A potential chance at making it to the Rose Bowl? and eventually getting us back as National Champions. Time will tell. Tick, Tick, Tick
I think he has deserved this opportunity and hope this pans out and brings us back to POWERHOUSE status. I think the biggest challenge he will face will be getting rid of the multiple coach's on staff that need to be replaced. IE; OL / DL, DC, etc.
If you have not had a chance to listen to this guys introduction today, I suggest you watch. Pretty damn heart felt, outstanding character, and a pretty well grounded individual.
He's not a Kiffin or a Sarkissian....
