Going back on time, McKay was a very tough disciplined coach. His players feared him but respected him. JR I was less disciplined than Mckay but could recruit and coach. P C was a disciplined coach yet very personable and could coach. Ted Tollner was a personable nice individual, could recruit but not coach. Larry Smith was a disciplined coach but could not recruit and eventually lost his team as he could not handle adversity.Sarkifians were not disciplined. Helton is a personable coach with n enough coaching experience to judge his as a coach.

Sban, Meyers and Harbough are disciplinarians and can coach. Under the discussed scenarios, what kind of coach would you look for if you were hiring? Some times ther is overlapping in qualities and results. My choice, a disciplinarian who can coach. His staff will do the recruiting and if he is a winning coach, they will come, at the Mckay style, who hated recruiting.
