...Good year for USC basketball. It would be nice to have won versus Providence, and the game was frustrating in parts. Though the defense did fine, the same problems that were there for USC in the regular season BBall were a large part of the loss. They have a tendency to force the pass into the middle of the key hat always seems a small window of opportunity.. and several turnovers resulted , many ending in opponent points. The free throw shooting literally lost the game ...from 3 misses on a 1 and 1 (overall 5-11 in the second half on FTs) to the plays of a missed dunk and a probable "and one" for 3 points ended in zero points when two FTs were missed. And the last play where a player was let undefended under the basket with 3 second reamnaing, for the winning points.
But USC did play well and came back from a 7 point deficit to lead by 5. McLaughlin has a great game as did most of the team hitting 46% of their threes and 58% of their overall shots. Unfortunately the latter was also the same percentage in their FT shooting. They came close and played well , certainly better than did fellow PAC12 teams , Arizona and Colorado. I'm looking forward to seeing them next year in a league that key PAC12 teams are losing their main players and USC bring nearly everyone back.
