In July of last year, 2019, Trump fired the CDC's Epidemiologist, Dr. Quick, who was embedded in Beijing's version of our CDC. She was there not only to train their doctors in recognizing and reacting to potential pandemic viruses, but to also warn the U.S. and the World of any potentials long before any outbreak started. She was notified in July that her work would end in September, two months before the outbreak in Wuhan. Interesting timing, to say the least.

Before Trump took office, the Obama Pandemic Response team gave a full days briefing on the how to deal with a pandemic. This briefing included a 69 page playbook with complete instruction on how to recognize a potential threat, to investigate it, and how to organize a response, which included all branches of the Administration, Cabinet Members, et al. Even though the Obama Admin. left 1700 ventilators, the cupboard was not bare, the instructions recommended to immediately start the stockpiling of all emergency equipment necessary for dealing with the sick.when they started coming, PPE's, masks, etc. It also included everything from helping to coordinate a International response to details on how to open up schools effectively. It covered everything. The Trump Team shelved it, never to be seen again.

In 2018, Trump also disbanded the Pandemic Response Team that Obama left him. Their offices were in the White House. The disbanding completely eliminated any potential for an organized, quick response.

You might think that was the end of it, but unbeknownst to many, in the Summer of last year, 2019, the CDC ran their own six month trial run of a possible pandemic outbreak with a virus originating, believe it or not, from China, with 15 States and several Federal agencies participating. After the trail and finding many deficiencies in the new plans, they too wrote up their own Playbook which Trump also ignored.

In early January, a U.S. team embedded in the WHO first heard of the Wuhan outbreak and alerted Washington. Then in late January, Peter Navarro was worried enough that he told Trump that we could be facing an outbreak with the potential to kill 500,000 Americans. Trump ignored him.

Joe Biden wrote on January 27 an Op-Ed in the USA Today warning the Country that Donald Trump was unfit to handle the virus that was coming and explained how it should be dealt with. Biden turned out to be right.

In late January, after a coronavirus briefing at the White House with Trump and several Republican Senators, Democrat Feinstein was not at the briefing, three of the Senators not only sold a majority of their stocks before the crash, but also informed several big donors not to travel to Europe because of the virus. Senators Burr and Loffler, who's husband, Jeffrey Sprecher, CEO of the NY Stock Exchange, were present at the briefing. Interesting. Sen. McConnell also warned big donors, and his wife.

Trump already knew the severity of the virus outbreak in Europe in January to the point of not only warning his cronies to sell stocks but to also warn them about traveling to Europe. Why did it take him until mid March, a good 45+ days later, to impose a European travel ban?

We all know during that time, Trump totally downplayed the potential, calling it everything from a Democrat Hoax to "it's just a flu and will magically disappear."
Even when he finally started taking it seriously, in mid March, over two months after he was informed about it, he still did everything to impede any effort to halt it- fighting his own orders for shut downs, wearing of masks and disregarding any scientific advise. It was almost like he wanted the virus to spread.
Your guess is as good as mine why he worked so hard to sabotage everything. His incompetence or planned incompetence is why we are in this serious crisis right now. A crisis that did not have to be if Trump would have not fired Dr. Quick in Beijing last year, or not disbanded the Pandemic Response Team with it's offices in the White House, or ignored the Pandemic Playbook that Obama left him.
His 2 1/2 months of negligence has caused over 100,000 needless deaths and crushed an economy that would have been rolling along just fine if he would have taken Joe Biden's advise back in January and jumped on this when he had the chance. Instead, all we hear now are excuses and blaming, and see meaningless efforts that only accentuate every wrong move he made for the last seven months.
This man is unfit to be President of the United States, period.
