Sophomore linebacker Uchenna Nwosu is enrolled in summer school at USC and is therefore allowed to participate in summer workouts. The school would not go so far as to say he is officially back on the team.
Nwosu showed promise as a freshman last year, serving primarily on special teams. In December, he was sent home from San Diego in the days leading up to the Holiday Bowl for an off-the-field incident. He was not enrolled at the university this spring and thus missed all of spring practice.
A school official maintained throughout the offseason that Nwosu was expected to return. And now he has. My guess is his reinstatement is a mere formality.
His addition could give USC 79 scholarship players on the 2015 roster, including expected blueshirts Taylor McNamara, Clayton Johnston and Deontay Burnett, and transfer Daniel Imatorbhebhe.
