Just one more reason this coaching hire must be a home run. In 40 years USC has just 3 NC's in football, but yet we're still considered a dominant program. Thank God for Pete or we may have fallen into total irrelevance.

Everyone one of our AD's played or coached at the college level so you'd suspect they had excellent knowledge of the game and therefore would be competent in selecting coaches, but sanctions aside, we obviously aren't getting the job done despite some tremendous advantages. I know we can't win a Natty every year, but we won 8 in 50 years, and although it may be tougher now I don't think it's unreasonable to win one every 8-10 years.

Here's a look at our AD's and the football NC's on their watch. I sure wouldn't want McGee's legacy. It looks like Pat will join him because whoever is hired will not likely produce a NC before Pat resigns, which is somewhat unfair due to sanctions and the short duration he was AD.

USC Athletic Directors:

Willis Hunter 1925-1957 4NC's
Jess Hill 1957-1972 2NC's
John Mckay 1972-1975 2NC's
Dick Perry 1975-1984 1NC
Mike McGee 1984-1993 0NC's
Mike Garrett 1993-2010 2NC's
Pat Haden 2010-present 0NC's
