TrojanSports.com caught up with 2017 five-star cornerback Darnay Holmes about his recruitment and how USC fits into things. Here’s what the 5-foot-11 prospect from Calabassas, Calif. HS had to say.
On if he’s considering USC
Darnay Holmes: “I wouldn’t say I’m not considering USC but we definitely fell off in the recruiting path, I haven’t had any contact with them so I’m really not too worried about USC right now. UCLA is definitely going to be up there, they’re going to stay up there no matter what just that connection I have with them since I was a seventh grader, that’s something I love… Stanford, UCLA, all those schools have a shot.”
On the last time he heard from USC
DH: “Sophomore year.”
On what happens if USC makes him a priority
DH: “Words don’t mean anything to me, i have to build a realtionship with the coach, see who the defensive coordinator is, see what type of guy he is, see his background, see his resume. But if he’s a great guy, we’ll keep in contact with him and if he’s not, my family and I will part ways with them and go do what we have to do.”
On how he feels about USC, outside the coaches he doesn’t have contact with
DH: “My mother is not too high on the location of USC, so the mom, my mother, doesn’t like it, the son’s not going to like it pretty much. But I really don’t know USC academic wise, I know them football wise. One of my big brothers Kevon Seymour goes there, so he tells me a lot of things about them, how he loves the program and all that stuff. But other than that, that’s all I know about USC.”
On the chances he ends up a Trojan
DH: “Very low.”
