The right-wing fever quest to sanitize and scrub schools of any literature they find disagreeable came back to bite conservatives in a big way in one Salt Lake City-area school district, where a keen-eyed parent frustrated by rampant book bans convinced the school board that the Bible, with its many instances of rape, incest, prostitution, murder, filicide, parricide, fratricide, genocide, torture, abuse, and acts of supernatural retribution, was too vulgar or violent for younger children.
