On offense I'm going with Jalen Green. I was doubtful he'd be the type of contributor he's been after switching positions and being seemingly buried on the depth chart. I didn't know he was as athletic as he is having never seen him play before this year. He is perhaps the most intriguing player going forward. Will he stay at receiver or maybe make the switch back to QB if we get a coach that wants a dual threat QB. Now with JuJu out the next couple weeks presumably, he and Deonte Burnett might wind up being big contributors.
On defense it's Cam Smith. Despite the fact that he had some good reviews in the spring and fall, I still thought Lamar Dawson would lock down that spot and Cam would mainly fill the back-up role while learning. Also, you never really now how much you can expect out of a freshman. lastly, he was perhaps the least heralded of all the freshman LB's coming in.
Either way I'm glad we have these guys and pleasantly surprised by their performances.
