As I stated in the other thread:
How many of you guys still want Wittingham? This guy has won his conference only once (in 2008, so he basically won the Mountain West Conference once). He's no Chris Petersen. What makes him one of these "elite" coaches that should be at the top of USC's list? What makes him a better candidate than A Helton? Don't tell me that he only has limitted talent to work with because (as the reasoning goes) if he's an elite coach, he would have overcome that and created some Oregon-like success, no?
While we are at it, it's funny how people point to specific bad quarters (in games that the Trojans actually won) as proof that Helton is a bad coach; meanwhile, their list of "elite" candidates are dropping entire games, and you hear nary a peep. Hmmm....
...The problem is that beyond that level of coaches, everyone else becomes a huge risk. Herman would have about the same record as Helton. ... This is where you start thinking, "OK, there are plenty of college candidates that they have winning records, but they haven't won their league too often, and they certainly haven't won in the playoffs. I haven't checked closely, but doesn't Wittingham fall into this category?
