| Attorney General is naming David Weiss to serve as a special counsel to investigate Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden who has already been the subject of a tax and firearm investigation. Republicans have argued that the president’s son should be the subject of increased scrutiny because of his role working with foreign companies while his father was vice president and while he was out of office before being elected in 2020. Weiss, the current Delaware-based U.S. Attorney, was appointed by former President Donald Trump and allowed to remain in the role to complete his investigation. Hunter Biden agreed to plead guilty to misdemeanor charges related to his failure to pay income taxes. But while standing in court last month waiting to enter the plea, the agreement fell apart over confusion about a separate gun charge. |
