I spoke with a member of the football program today who clued me in on a couple matters:

Offensive tackle E.J. Price, who left the program last September and said he would transfer, is actively attending classes at USC and is hoping to get back on the football team. Price is not expected to participate in spring practice but there's a chance he can work his way back onto the team by the fall. The source said Price was disgruntled early last season and already talking about transferring when he had a run-in with a member of the athletic department following the loss to Stanford, which ultimately led to him being off the team. Price was then said to have tried to get back on the team a few weeks later but has remained in a holding pattern while focusing on academics. He did not appear in any of the three games he suited up for and would be a redshirt freshman this fall. ...

Concrete details have yet to emerge regarding the indefinite suspension of kicker Matt Boermeester. But a source told TrojanSports that if the suspected allegations prove true -- we won't disclose them until they are formally expressed or confirmed -- it's very possible he wouldn't return to the team. The university announced in early February it was conducting an investigation and Boermeester would not be allowed to participate in team activities while that is ongoing.
