We gathered some information today on local target Jackie Jones. The four-star cornerback from Long Beach Poly is widely presumed to be favoring the Trojans but he has not communicated that publicly. He even went so far as to not include USC in an early top-five list, although he scrapped the list altogether shortly after.
He informed TrojanSports.com today he will take official visits to Michigan and Texas A&M and maybe Florida. He does not intend to take official visits to either L.A. school.
"My dad doesn't want me to visit any schools in state because he said he could take me there any day," Jones said.
Instead, Jones will visit "out of state and see what's out there."
When asked about USC specifically, Jones replied, "I don't have any top schools so, yes, USC is still in it."
There sometimes seems to be a game of cat-and-mouse between Jones and the Trojans. Don't be surprised if he delays on committing and takes his decision all the way until signing day. A source associated with Poly has told us Jones wants to enjoy the recruiting process.
