Has nothing to do with illegal immigration. Latinos (legal and illegal) make up about less than 5% of the population of Baltimore.

First of all it's closer to 10% than 5. Secondly, it impacts Baltimore and other cities when Federal resources are drained and spread around to areas where the numbers are much larger.

Fact: Police kill more whites than blacks by a wide margin.
Fact: Police harming innocent, unarmed citizens is an extremely rare occurrence. Police do harm criminals while trying to do their jobs.

You can't be so blindly partisan as to think that tensions between the black community and police which are erupting all over this country as a result of police brutality being caught on tape is Obama's fault. Please tell me you're joking. What you're witnessing in Baltimore is anger over decades and decades of systemic oppression and marginalization. When you herd people into a ghetto, redline them, give them crap schools, no opportunity for economic advancement, sick a police force on them that doesn't respect their constitutional rights and singles them out for unconstitutional, state sanctioned brutality, this is what inevitably results. It was going on long before Obama and unless its dealt with it will continue to happen long after he's gone. The fact that you think Obama or Sharpton have anything to do with what's going on shows that you don't get it.

I believe the outpouring of recent violence is primarily a result of Obama fanning the flames of racial division in America. I understand that the resentment has been accumulating over decades.

Why do minorities feel oppressed? Not because police risk their lives on a daily basis in these high crime neighborhoods. That is also a symptom. The root cause is the lack of employment and opportunity and hope stemming from the liberal political plantation system. Crappy public schools, expansion of the welfare state, blind support for the Democratic party. These kids have no hope. Their elected leaders have taken that from them.

So, Ron, how can you support a party that oppresses minorities creating the powderkeg exploding now in Baltimore?

Very sad situation. Crazy to me anybody could feel it isn't a big deal when a police officer uses excessive force and kills someone. This should outrage everybody regardless of age or race. Thankfully it is now just a matter of time until all police officers will have to wear body cams. Some of the rioters / looters are bad people just like some of the cops are bad people. There are a lot of good people on both sides of the line.

Well said Ron

Thanks, Obama. The US hasn't been this racially divided in a generation. Fortunately, Al Sharpton will be there tomorrow.

Bullshit. The country has always been this divided. Stop being so simple. Dallas is one of the most racially divided cities anywhere. It makes boston look like a Frigin melting pot.

Yes, Obama created racial divide. Brilliant.

No he doesn't get it. This lives on a long list of things he doesn't get.

Next time someone calls you a racist and you ask "what did I say?" remember this thread. All of the racist bullshit coming from the same guy who posted "I love Donald Sterling" a while back. You're a piece of garbage.

I remember as a child watching the Rodney King verdict come down and the LA Riots that followed on TV from the my home in Newport with my grandfather.

As a young boy my he sold newspapers on the corner of Florence and Normandy where Reginald Denny was torn from his Cement truck, smashed over the head with a brick then beaten within an inch of his life by a mob.

I remeber at dusk climbing on top of the roof of our house and looking north. The horizon was painted orange as if the sun had set in that direction. When I finally went back in to be with my grandfather I saw him sitting there silent and still as a statue, tears streaming down his face, watching what used to be a beautiful, working class neighborhood he called home burn to the ground.

For all I know that was the only time mygrandfather cried. It's an image I'll never forget

Funny we can't show a little G-string around here without a thread getting deleted but the mods let this sh*t go on. lmfao!

yup, we should stick our heads back in the sand, ignore a city burning, and flash a bit of porn.
It`s all the Mods fault.
And we wonder how a Baltimore can happen.

These issues also stem from one parent families and the lack of any core values nor do they have any ambition. Their leaders? The black mayor or police chief? Obama?

People think this issue started with Freddy Gray... THEY ARE WRONG. THIS HAS BEEN BREWING for years.
These Cops killing Black men is lighting a fire in this country. Not just between Cops and the Black community but between Blacks and Whites. These Cops love it, they want this.
Cops come from these white communities, have no idea about these communities and treat EVERYONE in these areas like criminals.
You have three generations of Black people out her protesting, not just kids.

The cops in Baltimore are largely black, as is the city council, police chief, and so on. and your next point is.....?

Did you watch the WIRE?
Lot of people think it was about crime, drugs, broken families, corrupt and stupid police big wigs, bad schools, failed newspapers, and slimy politicos.
It was all of that for sure, but to me, it was how all the players in each area, cared more about themselves than the people they were supposed to help.
We had the product of that neglect burning and looting tonight in Baltimore.
I fear that Baltimore is just the beginning.
Bill it would be nice to live life in your little pee sized brain. However not reality.

How is it that you know "excessive force" was used and no one else knows that? Like in the military, a police officer has seconds to make a decision that could result in his death. Quite simple. Freddy Gray had been arrested 18 times. that speaks for itself.

Why don't you leave the board. You have cause more divide on this site than any poster I've come across.

For one thing this isn't about black vs whites. Its about the mistreatment of law enforcement of blacks. It was proven that this has happened in cities like Ferguson, Mo. from the recently undertaken federal study.

Do you mean the federal study produced by Eric Holder? Do you think that was accurate?

Just stop with the nonsense already. Just go ahead and say what you really want to say...nigg*** get what they deserve. Black have been profiled and mistreated long before Obama took office and it happened when Repub

No one is for looting and burning. It only destroys ones community. However there is a need to stand up and protest the police brutality of blacks that has happened for decades in this nation under a number of presidential admins on both sides of the tracks. So some can save the spill that this is from the Liberal policies and Obama.

There may need to be a national forum of political leaders, law enforcement, community leader, and clergymen to say yes these mistreatments have happened all too often and we need to seek some solutions to them. Otherwise what happened in Baltimore, Maryland could happen in a number of powder keg cities across the nation this summer.

I totally agree. Hopefully, body cams and use of non-lethal force and de-escalation training will be a positive outcome from all of this violence. However, if hope and opportunity are not created for the disaffected youth in these impoverished neighborhoods, then the conflicts with the police will continue.

Freddy Gray was a worthless punk. Now they are acting like he was mistreated. It's laughable.

So you believe a guy for eye balling the police and running is supposed to be treated like a piece of cattle on a huff, thrown into the backseat of a police car, and tossed around to severe his spine? Isn't that enough of a definition as to why many blacks have a fear and mistrust of law enforcement?

What ever his arrest record in the past has no weight in court in relation to this case. It was the police's duty to apprehend Mr. Gray and determine what he may have done on that particular day. If he had a warrant out then handcuff him and place him into the police cruiser. Cant you smell the coffee that the way they handled this is happening all too often recently? That it would only be a matter of time before the pressure cooker exploded?

Dallastrojan- Back to your previous point re: fanning the flames of racism; I agree with you in relation to Sharpton. But on Obama, couldn't it also be stated that the fact that there is a black president galvanized many racists (both closet and overt)? I simply don't see any way that this can be perceived as a one way street.

Although heated and at times disrespectful, there are some great thoughts and talking points in this discussion. Thanks fellas.

Personally, I cannot empathize with those who have no hope nor can I begin to imagine the threat police officers sense in performing their duties.

Those painting either side with a broad brush just doesn't resonate with me as these problems are real and require a high degree of mutual understanding.

That said lawlessness and disobedient behavior cannot be sanctioned under ANY circumstance, nor can the dismissal of ANYONES constitutional rights be repudiated simply because of profiling.
