Football Lincoln Riley on MarShawn Lloyd's status

"Yeah, it was an injury from the Cal game. We kind of found out mid week that he wasn't going to be available. I thought the guys stepped in and played well. I thought the O-line did some really good things against a very talented front. Obviously, Austin had a productive game, Darwin came in there, Raleek came in there, guys did a nice job filling in for MarShawn."

Let this sink in, folks

We are dead last in the Pac12 in rushing defense. Dead last!

USC, a football school that for decades was synonymous with tough, hard-nosed, run stopping defense, is surrendering 172 rushing yards per game! UCLA, a team coached by Chip Kelly, is giving up about 1/3 that total per game. Oregon State, a program that has a proud history of 2-9 seasons, is allowing only 2/3 that amount.

I'm sorry to belabor the point, but why, why, why does Alex Grinch still have employment with University of Southern California football!? And what does it say about Lincoln Riley that he is tolerating these kinds of results? My answer: Lincoln Riley is a cut-rate head football coach.

Riley is a complete fraud

What is this program selling its alumni and fan base? This is a program in decline with a top 5 paid coach. Why should anyone care next year? The school makes it very expensive to attend a game and it’s almost impossible to tailgate and have fun. It’s a complete failure . We, as alumni and fans, can only pray Riley leaves on his own. He is not a decent head coach.

Theory on defensive woes....

You've heard of the saying "... paralysis by analysis...". I believe that's what is plaguing our defense. Guys are not playing loose and free, or fast, they are overthinking plays and making really dumb mistakes every week. They've become little Grinch robots who can't seem to find the ball or even tackle in open space, plus the missed angles, over-pursuits etc etc . I don't believe for a second we have the 115th worst players on defense. What we have is a near last ranked defense due to a net effect of lack of confidence, instinct, and ability to just execute basic defensive principles. I guarantee if I our guys just played with instinct and athleticism the results would be better. The week after week debacles are PROOF that the players are just not on the same page as Grinch. That is 100% on the coaching. When week after week your defense continues to make the same mistakes that's on the coaches. If I had at least seen weekly improvements I'd be more patient with Grinch but the broken record of mistakes and problems is itself the problem. I really hope in these last 3 games our defense just can at least get out of the robotic/paralyzed mode and at least play with more instinct, aggression and clarity. That will at least give our team a chance to be competitive in our remaining games.

Here were the O-line stats:
Monheim -- 3 pressures (0 sacks), 1 penalty

Dedich -- 0 pressures, 0 penalties
Murphy -- 3 pressures (0 sacks), 0 penalties

*Gentry had played just 15 snaps vs. Utah and 2 vs. Notre Dame. His previous season-high was 36 vs. Stanford. I look forward to asking Grinch/Riley what prompted his sudden change in role. His usage has been the biggest curiosity to me all season because he's usually effective when in there.
*This was Curtis' second-lowest snap count (16 vs. Nevada).
*And, of course, no Raesjon Davis. I don't know why he's the odd man out.
*This was Hughes' most snaps since Week 2 vs. Stanford. He'd only played in one other game since then (Notre Dame), per PFF.
*Benton played his second-most snaps of the season (54 vs. Colorado) after playing only 14 vs. Utah and 10 vs. Notre Dame. Alexander having to sit the first half obviously gave him more opportunity.

USC had only 7 pressures, which is surely among their lowest totals of the season (I'll go back through the past games later this week when I update the PFF data). Pressures came from: Byrd 3, Alexander 2, Curtis 1, Gentry 1.

Missed tackles (12): Curtis 3, Cobb 3, Smith 2, Alexander 1, Bullock 1, Shaw 1, Jackson 1

CB coverage stats:

Jackson -- 3 receptions for 37 yards on 4 targets, 1 pass interference penalty
Roland-Wallace -- 3 for 43 yards on 6 targets, 1 pass interference

Oh, boy! Johnson cutting "entitlements" proposal ..... really?

Geez....talk about committing hari kari, not to mention political suicide dooming Pubs in '24!!! This probably wont play too well in Peoria, nor other mid-lower income states (the majority of which happen to be MAGA). Those dumb fvckers supporting him and this gladly support sawing the branch off the tree their dumb, po' asses are sitting on a hundred feet above the ground!

ROE + SS + Donald Chump = BIDEN four more years. And it won't be close, not because anyone love Sleepy Joe, but because more people hate Orangeman than who love him. Mike Johnson just making things easier.
